Recently in the national news in South Africa it was announced that SARS is introducing, amongst other measures the concept of digitalization of customs clearance process.
It is web-based process. It allows for express clearance of public vehicles with effect of allowing for quicker processing of vehicles at border crossing between countries.
The web based process allows the transporter to have all its passengers to present a SARS digital PASS as a Soft copy on their phone or have the driver of that vehicle present a composite PASS that SARS will issue of such after the completion of the Web-based based clearance.
The process will require that each passenger get this web-based clearance long before they arrive at the border-crossing post.
This procedure must be completed by each traveller whether they have something to declare or not. Failure to show this SARS PASS, will result in unnecessary delays at the border post since SARS will not consider them as a travel priority.
